aaron ibn pori pitts: a brief biographic narrative

he'z been one of the forerunners but lesser -known artists/poet-performance/printmakers and video-documentarians of the black arts movement of the sixties. ibn is highly respected for conveying ideas of collaboration, especially with his ogun urban monument projects (site specific sculptural and performance space memories). he's shown and performed at the detroit institue of arts/cranbrook museum of art/museum of national center of african american artists/charles h. wright museum of african-american history/the research institute of african and african diaspora arts/pitch black community arts institut, plus numerous galleries and exhibition spaces nationally and internationally. black graphics international was his first magazine of the arts and has since become an independent publisher of books/videos and fine artist cataloguez and poetry. some of his public murals have been documented by camilo jose' vergara's photo book of "american ruins", african american motifs by the dreamkeeper/aaron ibn pori pitts, south side of chicago. il. published in anthologies by wayne state university press and broadside press. his gift is in seeking always to transform to that higher inner realm of itation...in the gift of giving.
