Shauntay Grant

Shauntay Grant is a multi-talented Nova Scotian artist who continues to gain recognition for her art. As a spoken word artist she has demonstrated the ability to deliver a stream of conscious styled works of poetry that create an atmosphere of intensity. Shauntay often draws upon her life experiences and combines this with her love of the arts to express her works of music and poetry. She is passionately inspired by her African heritage; this influence resonates in her work. The talking drum and its power to encourage artistic expression and equally communicate words, along with the African griot (or storyteller), are two elements of her ancestry that have encouraged her development as an artist. Practical experiences and exposure to a host of musical genres continue to complement her creativity.
