MASIA ONE

Masia One strives to represent Asian Females in a more positive light in an industry quick to play into stereotypes. Born in Singapore and educated in Canada’s west coast in Vancouver, the longtime fan of Public Enemy received a degree in architecture from the University of Toronto. She took her first artistic step forward in 2001 at TheCyberkrib.com’s “I Still Love H.E.R. — an all female urban showcase where she left the crowd with much applause and admiration.

Today, Masia One’s goal is to become a recognized artist, not only in hip hop but in the overrall spectrum of music. Afterall, her favourite artists include hip hop artists such as Company Flow, Black Star and Lootpack as well as jazz greats such as Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

She’s currently completing her debut album which will be released Canada wide in August 2003 (Indiepool Canada.) The 12 track CD is a true 100% independent venture with everything from design, art direction, marketing, promotion and publicity will be executed through Masia’s owned and operated M! Group and her co-management team.

She also performs with a full backing band including members of UltraMagnus,a Toronto based Afro beat ensemble which delivers a mix of world beat and funk.
