THE 8th ANNUAL
TORONTO URBAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
LABOUR DAY WEEKEND (Sept 2-5, 2004)

Talib Kweli headlines TUMF 2004

Canada's largest urban music festival is back for a eighth slammin' summer. Taking place at the CNE on September 4th, this year's festival promises to be the best yet. The Toronto Urban Music Festival (TUMF) 2004, presented by WORD Magazine, continues to showcase the best in urban music and lifestyle since 1997.

This year's festival is headlined by Geffen recording artist TALIB KWELI. With praise from rap heavyweights such as Jay Z and Fifty Cent, along with the re-emergence of concious rap, Talib Kweli is enjoying the biggest buzz of his career. His soon to be released album The Beautiful Struggle is highly anticipated and promises to be his best yet.

Plans for TUMF 2004 are now in the works and include an urban music conference and the Toronto Urban Film Festival.

Following the success of last year's urban music conference, which featured Chuck D and explored topics such as the state of urban music in Canada and how to present your music to labels, many are eagerly awaiting the line-up for the 2004 conference.

Mos Def, Jil Scott, Bilal, Dwele, K-OS and Slum Village are among the many talented performers who have taken the stage at TUMF over the years. Artist selection for 2004 is now underway, and the slate of performers will be announced on the web site as soon as selection is finalized. Attendance at the festival increases each year, reaching over 15,000 attendees in 2002.

Toronto Urban Music Festival Incorporated is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the best in Canadian and international urban music and multidisciplinary talent in a festival setting.

WORD Magazine, the soul of urban culture, is now in its twelth year of publication and is available free of charge in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Southern Ontario, Northeast U.S. and other select cities. Visit www.wordmag.com for more information.
